People already abuse the hell out of the General board. This is the perfect place for them. We dont need more boards, we need more disciplined posters.
You could say there already is oneScot_Gore

Here's RBR's description of the Rides and Clubs forum
"Post a ride or club event. Do you belong to a club with a website?"

One might say that ride reports belong over there, but I wouldn't be one of them.

Pierre, you don't even like to post photos directly to this board. I thought you'd be the last looking for a special place to load your shots to. :-)

Always enjoy your reports, keep em coming.

Thanks

You could post on Rides and Clubs, but hardly anyone uses that forum. I like the ride reports and feel they would get lost on another forum. Keep them on the General board. Ride reports are some of the best stuff posted here.

Shouldn't this go in the Site Suggestions forum? :-) (nm)innergel

It's all about traffic and exposure...biknben

Many of the boards aren't getting nearly enough traffic. The only ones that get good traffic is General and Components. I mostly stay on the Racing, General, Fixed Gear boards. General certainly gets the most traffic. Racing gets traffic during the season but is dead now.

I occasionally check out the Fitness & Nutrition board. Comments I made months ago are still on the first page. A thread I started days ago only has 60 hits. I could have gotten the same exposure in a couple hours on the General board.

My advice to others is to branch out. I come to the General board first and go to the others when I have extra time.

I enjoy the ride reports. It's the only reason I lurk over on Passion. They post more ride report than anything else. Every other thread is pictures. Just checking out the pictures can provide answers to questions you didn't even realize you had. I check out every ride report. Even though I may not add a response to the thread I'm looking at what people are wearing and the conditions they are in. I look at their bikes and gear and may try something new based on what I see. IMO, that is invaluable. I prefer the pics of people on their bikes, riding. Scenic shots or pictures of people standing around in spandex gets old.

Posting the photos takes time. I have to crop the pics and sometimes resize them to get them on the site. I enjoy doing it. I have benefitted from other reports and I figure someone is getting something from mine. If no one was going to see them, because the were on a board with no traffic, then I probably wouldn't put as much effort into it.

I have to admit, I often have the message board in my head when I'm on the road. If I bring the camera along, it's with the intent to create a ride report. It gives me something to do and think about while riding.
How about a whole new look to RBR?SmogRider

(As they should be.) All the ego-boosting gratituitous photos and other crap should be deleted - all it does is waste space and bandwidth.

It should be very firmly discouraged.
