|The only real advantage to road pedals is that most of them give you a bigger platform than SPDs and other mountain pedals. That matters a lot to some people, not at all to others, and sorta to others. I like a large platform a lot, so I have Looks on my road bikes and platform pedals with clips and straps on my touring bike. SPDs on my fixie, mtb, and cyclocross bikes, where getting in and out is a more frequent occurance. I also like the feel of the float on the Looks more than anything else I've ridden, but that's such a massively personal preference sort of thing, I wouldn't even begin to recommend them to someone else on that basis.
