for a long trip next summer...

We'll head down Highway 89 from Glacier NP to SLC, via Yellowstone. I've been over most of the road, but wanted to get some mileage and elevation numbers, so I went for a drive yesterday. The weather socked in so I didn't get as many photos as I wanted, but here are some views of the northern part of the ride. I hope the photos aren't too dark...

This is midway up the big climb out of St. Mary. 9.8 km, 1427 feet gain...


Highway 89 between St. Mary and Browning is one of the best cycling roads in North America - bicycling or motorcycling! This is actually a descent, nearing the end of the twisy/windys before heading out onto the prairies...


...where you get arrow-straight roads for miles and miles! This is a stretch between Browning and Dupuier...


Here's the Rocky Mountains. The road follows the front range for about 60 miles before angling east to Great Falls...

the frost was heavy on the leading edges of the Saturn when I got home. Yeah, it was cold!
