Check out the Serotta phorum, Ben Serotta announced they are shutting it down due to improper use. Maybe Craig thinking about doing the same. It would be a shame.

It looks like the entire forum (strong, serotta, calfee, etc.) has been shut down. Too bad. That forum was much easier to navigate than this one. Not too mention the lack of advertising pop ups and the sweet image gallery. I hope they change their minds or get someone to devote an hour a day to keep out the riff-raff. I learned quite a bit from those sites.
The Serotta forum is gone...davet

... because it was becoming a playground for trolls and others who couldn't contain their childish humor, bad manners and foul language. It's too bad, the Serotta forum contained a wealth of valuable info, humor and some damn good bikes.

Like Ben Serotta said, it shows the best and the worst of the internet...
?wow that's a bummer. How's your bike Dave? nmrwbadley

I sold the 'old' DS to a collector in Chicago. I'm too old to use a 7-speed double in the mountains around here.

I had a half-hour or so conversation with Roland not long after you sent me the info. What a hoot! I would like to meet him sometime. He's got to be one of the more interesting people around.

I never got a new frame from him. Instead I got the first 'customer' frame that Dave Kirk ( ) built when he started his own business.

Now I'm looking for a Ti frame, I need something to do during the winter.

Here's a pic of my Kirk.

The Serotta forum (and maybe the other related forums as well) is gone because a few hyper-sensitive people (and one in particular) didn't ignore the trolls. They selfishly waged their own little public battle against the trolls, and in so doing, took the entire forum down with them, including its value to literally hundreds of cycling contributors. Remakably, they continue to blame the trolls and deny any personal responsibility for the demise of the forum.

It's not gone because of a serotta member's reaction to the's much more complicated than that. You can make assumptions on why, but your reasoning surely isn't the reason.

I think your right. Ben Serotta gives an explanation, and he sites other manufacturers participation as part of the reason the board is shut down. I know Satcha from Vanilla and Ritchard Sachs contributed to the board and there was a strong contingent of steel buyers getting frames from other manufacturers all the while touting better value than Serotta. The boards hecklers were also out of control but some of the regulars used the board for everything but cycling. As a daily visitor I will miss all the forums, especially Serotta and Calfee.

I've got to wonder how Ben felt about the owners of Dave Kirk bikes touting their beauty on the SEROTTA board. How would you feel if you had a business and one of your employee's left to open his own shop and then people hung around YOUR shop talking up his shop. I think that would be hard to swallow, no matter how amicable the parting was.

Some of the trolls were getting annoying too.

I will miss the Serotta board.

You are probably at least partially correct, but you have to admit (if you frequented the site) that it was spiraling out of control with a LOT of not just non-Serotta posts, but some that were blatantly anti-Serotta. Because of the poster that you are obviously referring to, I'll bet Ben had a chat with his lawyer before pulling the plug. I'm not a lawyer, but if there was any negative exposure to Serotta because of the allegations, then I'm sure they would have advised to cut and run. It's a shame really, but then it was getting more and more difficult to wade through not just the trolls, but also all the constant chit chat posts by some of the regulars that felt they had to comment on every topic. "It was both the best and worst of the Internet"
BTW, what was your "handle"
