|Anybody remember that thread about front blinkie lights???||biknben|

|A few weeks ago, someone inquired about putting a blikie on the front of their bike. Based on what was written there, I bought a new white blinkie from Planet Bike.
I've been really happy with it so I thought I'd share the idea.
I've added a red VistaLite Eclipse to the back of my Giro Pneumo. It hangs off the Rok-Lok thingy by the belt clip on the light. I added the Planet Bike Sport Spot to the front.
I'm really impressed with the Sport Spot. It has four different modes but I just use the blinking mode. It cost $30. It includes 3 mounts (head, helmet, and handlebar). It also comes with the required batteries. It's worth mentioning that Planet Bike will ship for free if you are a member of ANY bike advocacy group and they contribute portions of the sale to advocacy.
In it's brightest mode, it's about as bright as a generic flashlight. Not enought to ride by, IMO, but still bright for it's size. In the blinking mode, it really is noticable.
Anyway, thanks to those who offered ideas a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to pass it along to someone else. Enjoy!

|How long does it last on a set of batteries?|

|The packaging says up to 100 hours. It depends on which mode you use. It has four LEDs. You can have all four on, just two on, or all four blinking. I would assume the 100 hour estimate is for the blinking mode or when just two of the leds are on.

|Thanks. I was just wondering about your experience. nm||purplepaul|

|How easy on/off is the helmet mount you use on the front? Does it use any permanent/single-use adhesive?
Also, mounted as you have it, how useful is it for reading your hrm or 'puter in the dark?
Thanks for the tip!

|I did have to do some fudging to get it mounted where I wanted it. I put a strip of velcro on the helmet (across the vent). You can just see the bottom of it in the front picture. I also put velcro on the back of the mount. The mount strap keeps it tight. The velcro keeps it in place. If I took the light off completely you would still see the strip of velcro.
This helmet is my dedicated commuter helmet so I don't mind the velcro. If it were my only helmet, I might just put the velcro on either side of the vent rather than all the way across it. That would make it less noticable when I wasn't using the light.
If I look down, I can read the computer. The flashing mode is like a strobe light but I can still make out the numbers.
