|How does a fork's rake affect its ride characteristics? My only experience on a road bike has been on a Giant whech has a straight, wide carbon fork. I just got a Trek 5200 and the fork curls at the end and is thinner than the Giant. Any differeces between how the two will handle?|

|Rake does effect handling, but rake is independent of whether the fork is curved, wide, skinny, or straight. A straight fork can have the same rake as a curved fork because of the angle at the crown. Rake and head tube angle effect trail. As rake increases trail decreases. Trail causes the bike to return to a straight path after the bike has been turned. Try these.
