Working on my beater/commuter bike which has a 7speed mtn cassette. Want to change to a road cassette so that the gearing is closer. Will a 7speed road cassette fit?

Both shimano? Then I think the cassettes are the same width. But I'm guessing the real question is will the chain fit (length, not width). What are the cog ranges on the cassettes? I bet the road cassette is 13-23?

If you are looking to put a road cassette on a mtn bike, just take some links out of the chain if it is a problem.

Both are shimano so I thought they would be the same width. Going to put 46T chainring and new chain so I'll have to adjust the chain lenght when it's all on.
They will fit...Dragon33

I use to use road cassettes on my mtn bike back when I was racing and the there was little altitude, just adjust the chain length.
