| Top Tube Name Declas | Scollopini Nov 20, 2003 5:17 PM | | I have ordered a set of name decals for my top tube and would appreciate some advice regarding applying them to my bike. Should I remove the clear coat, attach stickers and then redo clearcoat? If so, how is clearcoat removed/reapplied? Or is this too much trouble?
PS - Frame OCLV 120
Hope someone can help. |
| You're over thinking this | Kerry Irons Nov 20, 2003 5:53 PM | | You DON'T want to remove the clear coat, as that would leave rough edges, etc. Have a very clean surface, carefully apply the decal, and if you want you could add some clear coat over the decal, or over just the edges. I have decals on my Ti frame, and they stick quite well on the bare metal. They have frayed around the edges a bit and I just trimmed the frayed parts off. The extra clear coat would prevent this. Just a thin coat of clear nail polish on the edges may be all you need. |
