I'm just wondering how much turkey I should plan on eating.

I am still hung up on the "reverse" back loop of 6-gap +Brasstown and wolfpen idea.

route sounds good, too. remind me of the mileage...

i'll have to put the 32 back on my 'cross triple and hook up some long-reach caliper brakes. i'm no climber, but sure enjoyed brasstown bald! this route will surely send me back to physical therapy.
I'll post distance later, at least half is uphill. nmMike P

All except Brasstown. .. . I like our original idea (last year) for a 50+ mile loop starting from Robertstown. There would be substantial amounts of climbing, with our without Brasstown tacked on. Guess I'm getting too old, but Brasstown makes me ill just thinking about doing that again. But I've been talked into stupider things.

Best days for me would be Friday the 28th or Saturday the 29th.

How do you grow a gigantic beard -- fertilize it with something? Let me guess, beer!

from the neck up, save for eyebrows.

ah, i trimmed off the beard in june, then started back when i heard there were going to be family pictures. just kidding. it's so much easier to just grow it out than to shave everyday. plus, it makes me look like a crazy randonneur wherever i go. people in the grocery store are always whispering, "hey, look at that crazy randonneur." it's creepy, in a cool way.

Where have you been hiding? Friday would be ok with me, Saturday is better. What do you think about starting at Vogel SP? Good parking, a place to change if needed, and a creek to jump into. . . oops, may be too cold for that. It's a good, central point to ride from.

Mike
If we start from Vogel SP. . .Mike P

Milage would be just over 45 miles if we ride the back loop of 6-gap in the reverse direction. The more I look at it this way, the more sick it looks so we should ride this direction. I do not recall Brasstown Bald road proper but seems like it was a couple miles each direction? Lets make it an even 50 miles. Throwing in a token run up and down Wolfpen would be a nice cool-down and only add another 7 or 8 miles.

Date and time? Go by your schedule I have the weekend free; Turkey-day will be with family though.

Saturday will probably work for me. Thursday is out. My participation is somewhat dependent on the weather. We have been blessed with mild temperatures plenty of sunny days lately. Let's hope it holds. I don't think I want to ride up or down steep mountain roads in the rain, or very cold conditions. My gear is good for mid-30s and up. As I remember, it was considerably colder at the top of Brasstown.

I can probably meet at Vogel. It would be about 45 minutes more driving from Clayton, but still less than you would have from Chattanooga.

We need some Georgians to show up for the ride this year! Where are all the Atlanta and Athens riders?
cool! fyi, gonna take me a couple hours to get to vogel nmJS Haiku Shop
