I'm not sure what you mean by bad news--I'm pretty sure they're out of business and have been for some time if that's what you mean. I had one of the Ti frames Clark Kent had built for LeMond in the early-mid '90s and it was a nice frame--nice riding and very well tacked together.
good company with an unfortunate demise.hackmechanic

They made premium quality ti bikes and would likely be on par with Independent Fabrications and Moots today if they stuck around. There were two partners, someone Clark and someone Kent, hence Clark Kent. Things were going well and they had raised some investment capitol to take them to the next level when either Clark or Kent got wide eyes looking at the balance of their checking account and took off with the loot.

They made LeMond's early ti frames along with their own line of Clark Kent bikes which included both road and mountain. Nice bikes.
I wouldn't go that far,TJeanloz

There was little "good" about Clark-Kent from a company perspective. They made premium priced bikes with relatively shoddy quality. Living in Boulder, (CK was in Denver), I knew several people who owned them, and every one of the frames cracked. It wasn't a matter of whether the frame would crack, just a matter of time until it did. Neither of the builders really had the experience necessary to weld ti.

Their quality was poor, they stiffed their suppliers and customers, so I'm not really sure what was "good" about them.

Thanks, the frame quality was what I was talking about when I said possibly bad news. I'm trying to figure out who made my lemond ti just out of curiosity, it's a nice bike and must be pretty old by now so I'm not really worried about anything breaking, I'd just like to be able to compare it to something else and know it's history. So far I've heard of ck litespeed and even serotta as possibilities but no specifics on how to tell the difference

I described the lemond ti on an earlier post, it's seat stays join to the outside of the seat tube and are bevelled there, kind of like many older steel seat stays look. On another forum someone said that didn't sound like a clark kent, or any ti frame for that matter, does anyone have a detailed recollection of clark kent/lemond ti frame characteristics?
