Four days till the Tour de Tucsonspookyload

The last event of the year is drawing near for me. Sort of relieved I guess. Burnout was aproaching. I look forward to a nice couple months of cross training. I am still totally psyched about this weekend though. Talked to the PBAA people today and they say the total registration will be around 6000 this year. I just got my Pentax optio camera so I will be posting a ride report next week. In particular I am going to take a bunch of pics of the creek crossings. I heard they built a bridge over the one with knee deep water this year. Not too worried about the time this year, so there should be bunches of pictures. The camera is sooooo cool for bikers. I put a 128meg card in it so it will generate 225 1024x768 pictures. That should cover the whole 109 miles.

Anyone here doing it? With 6000 riders there has to be atleast a few RBR riders going. Post up if you are and what you will be riding. I will be on a Ruby Weave Kestrel starting in the Gold group wearing a red Sierra Nevada jersey. Stop by and say hi!

This is the ultimate bikers toy. And yes that is a real Altoids tin. Nice advertising huh?
Can hardly wait.......PatC

.......for your ride report to be posted here ! And don't forget to include a few photos !
I wish I could be one among the 6 000 !! No wonder you feel that way, a few days before such a momentous time ! But it's part of the magic, isn't it ?
Well, enjoy every single minute of the Tour and don't forget there are thousands who probably regret not being able to participate !
I'll be there as bike patrol. (nm)Mr Nick

I'll be headed down from Phoenix with my Dad friday afternoon. I turn 28 Saturday and he's 56. We're doing our 3rd TDT, but it's our first time riding the 100+ miler. Looking forward to it!

I just moved to the Biltmore area of Phoenix and I'm looking for some good routes and good riding partners. Get in touch if you're nearby and looking for the same!

There's a group that leaves from near 32nd and Camelback 2-3x/week in the AM, finihsing up around 8am.

I live just east of the Biltmore, north of the canal and will be looking for rides. Did 19 miles this morning heading into NE Paradise Valley and back around Mummy Mtn.

It's always fun on the Friday haul over from ABQ to see how many cars have bikes loaded on the back, top and in the backseat. Knowing everyone is heading to the same thing makes for a nice feeling of camaraderie. It's a great event and I love it. Was also thinking about doing a ride report, but I'll leave that to you.

Have a great time.

A buddy and I will drive as far as Demming (city of fast ducks!) then head on to Tucson on Fri morning. It'll be nice to decompress and get a good night's sleep. Last year I arrived after 7PM, then had to wait with all the mob at the convention center to get ride packet etc. Between road buzz and nerves I think I only slept about 4 hours the night before.

Maybe we'll pass you on the road heading back Sunday.

Drive slow and ride fast!

I plan on getting in around 4:30 - pick up a friend and then head to the convention center to stand in line. Agreed, it's not the most pleasant experience.

My wife flies in on Saturday night, we do dinner with her family then out on Sunday after stopping at El Bueno for a load of Green Corn Tamales. Nothing better than fresh Tamales for the ride home.

Enjoy the ride, I'm number 913, riding a red Calfee, say "hey" if you see me.
Breeze will you still be on a gunnar?spookyload

I rode with you at Enchanted Circle for a bit coming down the hill before the turn at Angel Fire. I posted a ride report there, and went back and looked at pictures from southern exposure when you said you were riding a Gunnar. Maybe we will run into each other in Tucson again.

It is Ruby weave, meaning red or purple overspray over carbon. I had a ben and jerries jersey on. I saw you just past eagles nest on the way to the last rest stop.

Headed for Mesa Thursday and on into Tucson Friday afternoon. #628 on a red Raleigh. This is my second one and I'm looking forward to it. After looking at the weather report I'm not sure what I'll wear.
Looks to be a chilly ride...swimbikerun75

Weather report has the start time temps at 40 degrees at best, and mid to high 60's at the finish. Man, desert weather can be tough to figure out.
