We all know about dehydration, but sodium depletion can be overlooked and a disaster on long hot ride. May not be the time of year to worry about this, but this great article on the topic just came out.

you bet, I did it to myself this summer. Pounded water at every stop on a metric century. I thought that because I was eating bananas ie potasium, I would be fine. I ended up with a splitting headache with blurred vision and had to sit out few days. I sell titanium and carbon fiber implants for orthopaedics and am lucky enough to be around enough MDs to tell me what I had done and the true danger I had exposed myself to.
thnx for brining it upcyclopathic

Lulu was ranting about it on local brevet list. She and Chuck ran Boston marathon back in 70s? I've ridden with them on several occasions.
