Official notice of name change (lol!)mtbmon

After some great suggestions by all of you, I have decided to change my handle to namaSSte. I just feel it defines me well and has some carryover into cycling. The two S's is for singlespeed btw since that's my off road love!

For those who aren't familiar with the expression, it's an ancient Snaskrit greeting which literally means:

"I honor the place in you where Spirit lives
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,
when you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
then we are One."

I love the commonality of that as it focuses on what is positive in us all.

For Hindus (which I am not), the greeting of choice is "Namaste," the two hands pressed together and held near the heart with the head gently bowed as one says, "Namaste". Thus it is both a spoken greeting and a gesture. The hands held in union signify the oneness of an apparently dual cosmos (mtb and road biking ?), the bringing together of spirit and matter, or the self meeting the Self (you know that feeling you get when you're riding?). It has been said that the right hand represents the higher nature or that which is divine in us, while the left hand represents the lower, worldly nature.

There you have it, possibly the most detailed handle explanation ever but hey, if I'm going to identify mysef with it, it might as well mean something, right?

Peace and light,
Scott (now namaSSte)

Sounds good Scott, I definitely like the double meaning. You ever get that Gitane fixed up? Dying to see a pic, as my computer doesn't load up MTBR correctly anymore and I can't read any posts there.

Take care
Wouldn't it have been easier..............Mike Tea

Namaste means all this?

"I honor the place in you where Spirit lives
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,
when you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
then we are One."

Amazing how much meaning they can get into one word. What word do they use when they just want to say "hi?"
