I am thinking of driving over to pick this bike up -- my wife gave my a budget of $1000 on a new bike (which is fair enough) -- and I can not see anything else that beats this Fuji Marseille - any thoughts?

we are as far east in east Texas as you can get; and with not much shopping out here - we drive into Big D every month or so. I seem to remember reading some stuff on here from someone in Dallas. Anybody out that way know of a great deal on a Road bike for $1000 or even less? I prefer NEW of course, but a super clean used might be ok --

What size are you looking for? I've got a 53cm 1997 Giant Carbon CFR Pro Series w/ full Shimano Ultegra for sale for $600. I'm just east of Shreveport, LA.

Can you say good bye dealer license? Thought so.
Unless Fuji is robbing its dealers, that isn't the real cost...TJeanloz

And there's no way a Chinese-built steel, full ultegra bike retails for $2K.
Are you assuming that mark-up on bikes is Keystone?zero85ZEN

Because it is not. If this bike cost the dealer $995 (Which is PERHAHPS possible once he figures in shipping, and the cost in labor for assembly) it would be marked up to about $1300. Bike shops don't make their money on bike sales, they make it on accesories and on repairs.

Some bikes are marked up at keystone, but not that one.

I would be shocked if that bike cost $995. Unless, as you point out, that is some fully-loaded cost. Full ultegra, chinese stell, crap brand name, I would be surprised if Fuji was able to sell it for more than $900.

I'm reasonably familiar with the economics of a bike shop, and I seriously doubt that that bike cost $995.
So many on here do not know what the HECK they are talking aboutwardinside

And yet, they post things as if they know

Fuji Marseille is not made in Chana - It is made in Taiwan

Frame builder is A-Pro - approved by Reynolds to build 853 frames

A-Pro builds frames for well over a dozen other top name bike brands

Fuji uses 'keystone' list price -- that is; the dealer cost is half the list price

therefore; the statements in the ebay ad are very close if not dead on

in addition, bike shops would normally sell bikes with this cost structure at $1695 ($300 off list). Stores might go $1295 on close out. $995 is way low for a store to sell this bike at -- that is even low for and online seller

just the facts; that's all

Your posts are becoming so obvious. At least have the decency to say who you are.
61 cm?micha

Is it just my old eyes, or is the bike in the picture NOT a 61 cm? $995 for a hard-to-sell 61 cm sounds reasonable, though.
Looks like fraud to me!!! nmFastPete
