|The "reserve" is the minimum dollar amount the SELLER establishes that he/she will take for the item. Although occasionally the seller will indicate the reserve amt in the ebay ad, the vast majority of the time it is not known by bidders until a bid equals or exceeds the reserve -- then the item will indicate reserve has been met. If the reserve is not met at the end of the auction, the item is considered NOT sold even to the highest bidder.
The "minimum bid" is simply a starting point established by the seller, usually no relationship at all to the reserve. Many items have the starting minimum bid set low to encourage bidding. Does this answer your question???
