All the different rear cassettes out there for road bikes. What is the different gearing ranges used for in racing? Would one gear range be more for TTs, and another range for very hilly criteriums?

Depends on the chainrings and the MOTOR.
That reminds me - gotta get a 12x27 for Logan Pass next summer.BowWow

My current 11x23 is just about perfect for every day. I may slip a 16 in the middle, though. Next summer I want to do a lot more climbing, though, and unless I can drop another 20 lbs I'm gonna need the 27 to survive. I don't really want to go triple...
