This is my first winter that I have tried to ride. I am looking for some recommendations for tights. I prefer bibs and live in Georgia. I am older and colder but do not want to burn up. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Does anyone have any experience with the Triflex tights from Performance?

Thanks
Mark

I bought a pair of the Peral Izumi Amfib tights, and tried them out today. It was about 30 degrees with some wind. They worked great at keeping the wind at bay, especially around the knees. I believe the triflex are simmilar.

I have a pair of Santini winter weight bib tights from bike jerseys.com that have wind resistant front panels and are a nice think fuzzy inside fleece and pro chamois. Hank has winter weight bib tights now for $59, whether they are the windfront type I'm unsure, when I bought mine (team leftover kit) the windfront was a bonus, was not described in the description of product.

I recently got a couple of pairs of these and so far into the lower 30s they're comfy and warm and working great.

You have a Pearl Izumi outlet store in Dawsonville. 706-265-6929. Get the Thurmafleece bibs without the pad. You can wear them a 2-3 times before washing and you get the extra cold protection from your regular shorts underneath. As with all PI clothing, it is top-shelf stuff. $85 but you can get a 20% off cupon at the store sometimes.

Wore them for the first time this weekend. Under the tights I wore a pair of normal weight knickers for chamois and to create an extra layer over my knees. This combo worked great at 40 degrees and I think it should work well to about 25 or 30 degrees. Especially like the how these come up high on my torso so there are no gaps between my waist band and jacket. Also saw a pair of Cannondale bib tights at the shop that were very similar weight, price, construction that would work equally well.

Also have used a set of tights with a wind panel in front and fleece lining that are just too hot until the temp drops to freezing.

It's hard to go wrong with any of these suggestions. One thing to keep in mind is going to the bathroom is a real pain with bib tights. You have to take off your top layers. I wear bib shorts, but not bib tights.
