How maintenance free are Rolf hubs? I have no visible dammage, they run very smooth, and have never been submerged in water. I am trying to teach myself better bike maintenance. The wheels have about 3500 miles on them. Should I be regreasing or moving on to another chapter?

I have about 35K on my Rolf VC hubs (Hugi). They still run nice and smooth, I have never even looked at them. Usually when cartridge bearings start to go, you hear grinding noises along with other stuff. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it. Lennard Zinn says that as long water does not get through the seal for the cartridge bearings they should be O.K. They are a pain to overhaul, easier just to purchase new cartridge bearings. I'm waiting for mine to go south and I'll probably just buy a whole new wheel set.
