I have to say I love the 5.9 after riding it but I think I am still getting a 5900. It did feel stiffer but the dura ace could have affected that. It looks so much better in person then in the pictures.

Thanks for the comments on the 5.9, however if you loved the ride why would you still be opting for the 5900? I am curious as to your logic. My 5.9 should be in some time this month but I still have time to change that to the 5900 if I would like so that is why I ask!

Thanks in advance!

The ride quality on the 5900 is just better. I have ridden a Madone with DA 9 and one with DA 10 the stiffer ride comes from the frame.

Just thinking out loud I have to believe that Trek is still tweaking the ride quality of the Madone--its all new but the 5900 is more of a proven porduct (though its lighter this year). They've had years to work with it. Some proof the Madone still needs work was a comment made by a Trek official at Ride for the Roses after I commented on the superior ride quality of the 5900 "the engineers will keep working to get the ride quality to match the other frames"

The bike was rushed to Lance and now is in production. I think time will help this bike

Thank you for your response, it all makes alot of sense! It certainly makes me think hard about my decision!

Thanks again!

I road the 5.9 madone over some rough stuff and it wasn't bad (ie better then anything but the other oclvs) But what really made my mind up was the weight or aero question. I weight about 135 or a little less in the summer and when I am in front it is usally on a climb not in a huge headwind. So weight and confort won over aero. Although, every big guy I know has ridden the 5.9 wants one (most ride alu now however.

well the big guy statment is encouraging for me! I am about 205 and comfort/feel/response is a concern for me being so big! My main concern is that I have an 04' 5200 right now and am wondering what difference I will see for the extra $1800 bucks???

Thanks for your thoughts andy02!
