Gunk on the rims(3 posts)

Gunk on the rimsKaboom

Everytime i come back home after riding in the rain my rims seem smeared with thick black rubber, coming from my kool-stop black pads. Everytime i remove it, but its a pain in the ass. Is it bad if i leave it there to dry? should the brakepads be doing this? anything i can do to prevent it? theoretically kool-stops are the best pads on the market... (if its any help, i'm riding ksyrium elites)
don't worry about it nmgtx

It's normal. Just clean the rims after each ride in the rain. Acetone does a good job, but a rag or plastic scrub pad works okay too with some elbow grease. Sand the pads while you are at it to de-glaze them.
