I would really appreciate any comments you have after your ride! Also the stats that you get!

It sucked. It was so stiff like a noodle. The bland, muted ride game me terriffic feedback. The beefy bottom bracket was very compliant. It was by far the fastest bike I've ever ridden. It practically rode itself uphill. It was at least 10 mph faster with the new Conti tires on it. I plan on turning the bike into a cyclocross racer.

ok that was one of the most incoherent responses I have ever read....I am not sure if it was meant that way or I am just really tired and didnt understand what you were saying exactly???

Thanks for the reply anyway!

I spent about 2 hours on a 58 cm test bike--similar to the one that Carbon110 had a shop near him. I took it all over the hills and rough roads of northwest Austin and my verdict was too stiff of a ride. Now that being said my bike had more layers of Carbon in the front end than the production models BUT I have test ridden production models as well.

When I ride the production models at the shop back to back with a 2003 5900 Superlight I much prefer the ride of the Superlight. So far i haven't touched an '04 Superlight

The Madone climbs well but can't deal with rough pavement as well as the 5900/5500/5200 frames.

More than likely I will own a new Trek carbon this year. It won't be a Madone, the ride quality is too poor for my taste.
Being cynical... and here are some test numbers.orange_julius

he was being cynical. basically he's saying that the
bike is noodly, the BB flexes, and the feel is dead.

interestingly, a recent issue of "Le Cycle", which i think
is the best magazine for bike reviews, did a review
of the Madone. the use a set of tests to determine
the stiffness of the different aspects of the bike.

- headset flex (20 kg at extremity): 11 mm
- BB flex (40 kg at extremity): 0.7 mm
- rear triangle flex (20 kg at extremity): 3.59 mm

so there! no more Bicycling mag-style review where all
bikes are stiff, compliant, light, and sure-footed at the
same time. for comparison, the numbers for the LOOK
KG451 in the same issue were 8 mm, 0.73 mm, 3.3 mm.
for the Masi RCS: 8 mm, 0.72 mm, 3.56 mm.

this magazine rocks, i think i'll subscribe.
