Stupid question of the day....funknuggets

Sometimes do you think that you spend way too much time on the bike? I've just noticed from time to time that some cycling habits get all twisted up with normal everyday life. Not that cycling isn't "normal", I just mean cycling habits get mixed up with off the bike stuff. Maybe it is just me, but I just wanted to know if you guys noticed yourself doing the same thing.

One thing I do, especially in the winter when we have these insanely cold winds. I often draft people walking into work from the parking garage. I don't even really realize it until every once in a while they will turn around and look at me funny. Its not like I get right up on them but within 3-4 feet, I just tuck in... (it DOES help by the way)? Dont get me wrong, there are lots of people that work here, so it isnt like I find the one solitary guy and race to tuck in.... its just something I noticed.

Secondly, do you ever grasp keys or a cell phone and try to put it in your back pockets of your jersey... that you aren't even wearing?

Im sure I cant be the only one. Right?

What do you do?

Sometimes I find myself wishing I had Campy shifters on my truck (cuz then it shift SO much nicer and look SO much cooler) - and wondering how it would look if the body panels were carbon fiber....

in addition to some of those mentioned, i'll yell "car back" when i'm in a car or walking. i'll also concentrate on holding my line as a pedestrian for no reason at all.

the day i pull over in a car to let the car in front of me pass just so it can "take a turn in front" i'll know i'm in real trouble.
I'm really bad when driving...biknben

While driving a car, I lean into tight turns and unweight my seat before I hit a bump. I also try to minimize braking while on the highway. I let off the gas and coast instead. Kinda like "Softpedaling" a bike.

I have a few other bike racing tendencies that effect my driving but I'm too embarrassed to admit. Basically, I treat heavy highway traffic like a crit race. It makes things much more interesting. :-)

dropped my celphone into an imaginary jersey pocket only to have it fall to the ground.

In my slowa$$ volvo, I draft SUVs/Trucks fairly tight but not insanely so.

When thirsty, I've reached for the imaginary camelbak tube. More of a mtn bike thing but still.

On the mtb side, I've gone around a car on the unpaved shoulder at speed and rallied the car back on without thinking. I drifted and slid like a rally car. Only after the fact did I consider this to be straight out of my mtb programming.

Ever "Clipped Out" off the brake or accelerator when you got outta the car?

....or reached under the steering column to get your "water bottle/Coffee Commuter Cup"?

....whacked your wife/passenger in the car signaling a pothole on the right?

...Maybe I need a break from the bike or maybe, just maybe, I've finally achieved a higher plane of existence.....

Yup, I often try to "unclip" when moving my feet from the pedals in the car. I've also lifted my arse off the seat in the car when I've spotted a pothole I'm about to drive over.

I still shout this to those cell phone chatting soccer moms who seem to miss the point of the dotted white line. These days, I'm on the bike more than in the car though, so its all good.

I've been in cars with enough cyclists to know that many of us roll through stop signs, anticipate lights and treat our brake pedal like it has a raw egg on it.

Outside the car, am I the only one who's found himself walking along with his left thumb over his left nostril?
