Feeding my bicycle addiction has become much easier in the last few months...when I started volunteering my time at my LBS. Bikes and bike parts at cost is very nice.

Two new higher end bicycles and numerous parts have come my way.

The dealer (my friend in this case) gets bikes fixed/set up, etc., and I get wonderful bike related items significantly cheaper.

I have worked on my own bicycles for 30 years or so, but have gained SO much knowledge wrenching under someone who knows more than me. Anyone else?

I consider it an apprenticeship.

The owner is a good old friend of mine who recently fell upon hard times...thinking about closing up the shop, etc.

The business is thriving now, thanks to me in part. I WORK full time at the hospital...the things I do at the bicycle shop cannot be construed as "work" IMO. It's just fun.

Greasy/dirty fun.....8^)
