|Is it a bike you have looked at or is it an internet deal?
If it's an internet deal I would be cautious.
If it is down tube shifters with a freewheel it's an okay to good deal (unless it's worn out)
If it's Cassette and modern shifters its a great deal if all works properly and it's drive train is not too worn.

|I like it. Bought it for $100 off a buddy; he made me a deal I couldn't refuse to get me into road biking. I love road riding. The GT has a light, stiff, fast frame.
Do I lust for a new bike? Sure.
Did I think my bike was slow while I was blowing by folks in my first triathlon (first road race ever). Nope. Only thing I'd like to do is convert the downtube shifters to STI.
I'd look at it and ride it. And *any* price in a classified is just a starting point.
I like mine.
Good luck, and don't let the latest-greatest keep you off the road - especially if it has STI.
