|I have it on one bike. It works fine, except the rear derailleur which is very prone to not keeping its adjustment. I replaced the RD with a 105 RD and all is well. I also found the brake bridges flexy and replaced them with 105 calipers, but many use the brakes without problem.
It has zero snob appeal! Aside from that it works 95% as well as the Chorus/record I have on my other bike.

|I replaced a worn-out 8spd Dura-Ace right STI lever with a Sora lever last spring. Performance is adequate; not exciting but no real complaints, and I actually like the thumb-shifting action. If you search Usenet archives (eg rec.bicycles.tech) at groups.google.com, Sheldon Brown is quite complimentary of Sora, FWIW.
I wonder how long Sora will stay 8spd, though. With D-A introducing 10spd, it's just a matter of time till Sora goes to 9. I'd hate to be the last guy to buy Sora-8. ;-)
