noob at the road thing here:

if i want to approximate the overall comfortable
reach of my mtn bike on a yet to be built road bike,
should i add the road stem length to the road bar reach?
if i do, i will need a much shorter stem than what
ithought. help?

Many thanks!!
totally difft geometries. Start fresh imo. nmSteve_0

The brake hoods are going to be further away then your MTB bar when the bike is set up in a comfortable position. The fits are different.

I ride bikes with approximately the same length TT (MTB is a tad longer). The stems lengths are generally similar (MTB might be a tad longer, but I like a laid out MTB position).
my obs: Tops a bit shorter, hoods much longer, drops lower.nmSpunout
