So instead of following the Worlds in Hamilton on Sunday or going for a morning road ride along Sheridan Road, the wife and I hitched up the Burley and rode over to watch the Chicago Marathon. Total ride was only 17.5 m with an average speed below 10 mph but it was also a lot of fun!

Getting the bikes locked up prior to the race. My daughter sees lots of open asphalt to explore.

Ultegra shifters help aid the escape!

The pace truck comes through clearing the streets for the first marathoners. This is near the 8 mile mark.

The first marathoners are the hand cyclists which usually finish 30 - 45 minutes ahead of the fastest runners. These guys are moving and I needed to pan the camera to get a shot to turn out...

How about this for a tight paceline?

Next comes the Kenyans who had opened up a sizable lead from the pack. I don't think the Peloton will pull in this breakaway!

Then the offical pace vehicle displaying the time.

And the mass of runners comes flying by us.

From her we rode to the 15 mile and 18 mile portions of the marathon. All and all a pretty inspirational day. Thanks for looking!

Awesome pics... there's that Orange Kelly - I KNEW I'd seen you before. You are a block from me - I was at Addison and inner Lakeshore. Steve, we get a few people together from time-to-time to ride up to Ft. Sheridan and back. If you'd like me to let you know when, e-mail me at Bigten_web1@hotmail.com - WR
