I'm trying to ride myself back into shape (a depressing project!), so I "celebrated" turning 51 on Saturday with a 51-mile ride at an average of exactly 20 mph. Confession: I had a little help from my (five younger, stronger) friends, and didn't take any pulls over the last 20 miles.
What cool birthday rides have you done?

My 33rd is on Thursday and I am going to tell my wife I don't want a fancy dinner, or any big deal. I just want to go out riding after work! It will have to be MTB though my road bike is in the middle of a rebuild. Perhaps I will break out the niterider.

I'm doing my first metric century (the Foxy Fall Classic in Davis, CA), the day before I turn 36. Tore my ACL playing indoor soccer 18 months ago and switched to biking...

Last saturday, the day after my b-day, I went for a nice ride with all my new winter gear. Temp was approx. 40 degrees. New gear is fun. And I love the new booties.

Indian summer here in central Michigan so I took a day of vacation. Went out with a buddy for a cold 7:45AM start but the temp got to the upper 70s by the time we finished. 124 miles/200 km, door to door, in 6:45. I added a mile at then end to make it a double metric century. A great way to spend my birthday, and it beat the heck out of going to work! Beautiful fall colors too - what a treat.
