I report about 10 mtb scams a week to ebay (hey, it's slow at work), but is this road bike auction a scam?

I hate replying to these questions, as who am I to judge who is a fraud and who isn't, but I looked into this sellers past transactions... one thing stood out... they never list the same place as their location twice. What I honestly suspect is that there really is a bike, and you can buy it for what they say, but it's stolen. The seller has a positive feedback listed in the last 7 days. And if you look at some of the stuff they sell, it's all random. The location is never consistant, but I suspect they are actually shipping product as there is no negative feedback. The style of the listings is semi-consistant, which is why I don't think the Ebay ID got hijacked recently, I just suspect stolen merch. They sell with no paper trail either, money order or wire transfer, which is sketchy, I wouldn't bid on it.

all of this guy's recent transactions have been as a buyer not a seller. I fact every transaction he has ever done (300+) all appeared that he was the buyer. A buyer does not have a location listed -- only the seller, right? The randomness of the items is therefore less of an issue...but I agree about the method of payment issue. I NEVER deal with anyone who only accepts wires or MOs.

Seems I put mine in there.... guess it goes to show what happens when you are reading posts and watching Law and Order Criminal Intent at the same time....

Need to pay more attention next time, and I will also retract my remarks, just in case the seller is an RBR member, I owe them an apology for not paying attention to that.

Hey, if this auction is legit, great. However, if I were selling this bike I'd have a lot more to say in the description and better pics. Team bikes should fetch a bit more than his "Buy it Now" price. $1700 for Dura Ace Team ONCE with FSA carbon cranks and Am. Classic wheels? Sounds too good to be true. I agree with the above poster, could be a bit warm. No offense to the owner if they post here.

The "seller" has never sold anything before. And only buys nick-nacs, books, videos, and cheap MP3 players.

Don't just look at feedback totals, look at the items, they tell the story.
