Considering a Maillot Jaunechbarr

Hi!

My LBS has 2002 Lemond Maillot Jaune, DuraAce, Bontranger Race Lite X wheels for <$2000. I'm thinking hard about getting it to replace my Trek 1000. My questions to the group:

1. Good deal or not?
2. Good bike or not?
3. For the money, is this a good replacement?

thanks,
Charles

That's an outstanding buy. I have a 2001 Maillot Jaune & it has been great. However, the fit is a little off for me, so I'm considering buying another in a smaller size. The price for the 2004's has gone up by a huge amount. The "classic" Maillot Jaune with the 853 frame is now $1100 just for the frameset. The new Maillot Jaune spine frame (Carbon fiber & True Temper) is going for $1700+ for the frameset.

I have the Zurich, which is the same frame. Nice bike. The thing that is really cool is that frame is as light as a ti frame. You'll like it a lot.
