|It looks to me like the cross bike is running V-brakes without a Travel Agent and a road triple with the cable coming down from the top tube. Has Dean actually made the modifications to their bike for these to work? Like a means to change the cable pull from a road brifter and a pulley for the top pull cable? If I am mistaken, I apologize, but I hate it when companies show things that don't actually work. I especially hate it when they are things that I want!

|Actually there are mini v-brakes that do not require the travel agents when used with the STI shifters. I think they are made by Tetro or Tekro. They are used on tandems as well.
As for running a front der cable along the top tube, you can use a top pull front der or run a pully, on the seat tube below the front der, that runs the cable back up to a bottom pull front der.
But for cross bikes to have the cables run along the top of the top tube is very common if not prefered since it does not subject the cables to mud, etc.

|I've never seen a top pull road FD. I've seen the pulley solution, but does the bike come that way or is it offered as an option?

|I use V brakes w/Campy shifters and they work fine w/out any cable pull modifiers. The Avid disc brake on the front works too. AND the 10 sp shifter handles the Shimano XTR rear derailleur perfectly!! All this on a road bike!!!|

|hard to believe Campy uses 1:1 pull when Shimano 1:2. Unless you use travel agent, modified shifters it will only work if you wanna shift 2 gears a time ;)
However, SRAM ESP rear der will work with Campy shifters, ESP has 1:1 ratio.
