Young single DC women cyclists... WHERE ARE YOU??!!DrPete
Oct 9, 2003 5:20 PM
I've been riding the whole DC area in search of a twenty-something woman who's a serious cyclist. I see plenty of women on hybrids cruising the bike paths, but precious few die-hard roadies.

Where are you? If you're young, single, love to ride, and live around DC, drop a line--the seagull can be our first date!

Is DC the only area where this happens? Do all women cyclists live in CA or something?

The frustrated DrPete

women who may be interested in racing. It's actually a bit of a mystery. We have small womens squads in the 3 and 4 fields, and they are always looking for company.

that woman cruising the mut on a hybrid is just inches from being happy on your tandem. Shutting your eyes to the hybrid babes is not where the action is.

Slow it down a bit, look happy and yak at 'em. ooh baby that's a fine sled you're ridin', how'd ya like to try some a this eh? Coffee at the diner? how about a scone? Yummy....
Point well taken. :) nmDrPete

Give her the benefit of the doubt if she's on any kind of bikeinnergel
Oct 10, 2003 7:29 AM
You may be just the ticket to help her move from the hybrid/cruiser to the roadie crowd. Maybe she's thinking, "I wish one of those guys on the road bikes would help me get a road bike."
LOL. You have no idea.Kristin

I went on this date with a doctor once. We talked on the phone a few times and he told me he was into adventure racing--which, at the time, I had no clue about. Basically it involved hard core ATB, white water kyacking, climbing and wilderness survival. He told me he was into cycling and I enthusiastically told him about my Trek 720. He competely dissed me after that. Little did he know I was a roadie to be, who now kyacks and hikes. His loss.
Oct 10, 2003 7:54 AM
Yeah, definitely can't be like that-- he was even set up for a PERFECT gift idea somewhere down the line!

I wasn't trying to be an equipment snob, just hoping to meet someone who was already a roadie... :)
It is not just you!!wspokes

I went down to the Trexlertown VeloSwap last weekend and I was speechless by the Talent I witnessed from the young ladies. Many wonderful, potential singles, all cyclists practically. They are out there...And they will sneak up on you when you're not looking! Slow down a bit and take a cruiser ride sometime beside those hybrids!
Wow, beautiful. I think I may have to move.MKD

I too dream of finding the serious female cyclist and adventurer. I have tried to mold a couple into cycling, but it didn't work out. Its not good to try to change someone. I live in Northen CA, female cyclist are not as abundant here as you may think. When I do see them, they are usually riding with their significant other.

I'd love to take credit for it, but I think bikerchic may be responsible for 99.9% of the views. :)

Thanks, bikerchic-- You've rekindled my hopes of finding someone! See you on the road :)
