Really dumb shoe question(3 posts)

Just bought a pair of PIs, the first SPD-compatible shoes I've owned. I use Speedplays and don't need the sliding SPD thingy. Anyone know the best way to remove/immobilize it without compromising the seal of the sole?

FWIW,

Most road shoes have the same thing going on inside them. I use Look cleats so I always need to stop the SPD inserts from sliding around too. I take a chuck of Aluminium Foil and ball it up and mash it in there so they don't slide. Then when I put my cleats on the soles it keeps the foil from falling out. Simple but effective trick. Try it.

Notice the small (2mm???) hex bolt _inside_ two (I think) of the SPD nuts? Tighten them.
