Form Fitting jacket (windproof)(10 posts)

Form Fitting jacket (windproof)Ash

Hi all,

I've been having a hard time finding a jacket for commuting that fits worth a damn. I even tried a womens Medium (I usually wear men's small) for a shorter cut.

The jackets I've tried all are so bulky around the stomach, and when I lean over in a typical cycling position they bunch up.

I do have a very short torso in relation to my body, hence the need for custom bikes.

Any suggestions for some form fitting cycling jackets that are highly wind resistant or windproof.

Go ahead, say Assos or Casteli, but I am really hoping for something more affordable.

thanks
Exte Ondo? What type of jacket?JL

I have a winter Exte Ondo jacket and it seems to fit fine. It has Windstopper and I wear it as a jacket or a jersey depending on temps.

My body type is different than yours though, so of course YMMV.

I agree. For instance, Pearl Izumi is American cut meaning fuller. The European cuts tend to be slimmer. I have and think fits great the Excel Sports (Boulder) team jacket. You can find it online and you can call.

I have a custom frame, what about a custom fitted jacket?Ash

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look in to them. I came across this place from a link off the icebike website
http://www.foxwear.net/

I sent him an email and am waiting for a reply. But it looks like I can totally customize a jacket for $80 or so. With high end materials.

I'll let you know what he says.

I just bought 2 pair of tights from Foxwear. Lou's a nice guy and easy to work with. He sent me fabric swatches, and made the tights with 2" longer inseams than normal. Received them within 3 days of placing the order by phone.

Right now REI has a sale on their "rainshadow" cycling jacket. I like the fit on me. $34.99

I don't know about wide distribution in the States but I suffer the same issue and the Briko's fit well. Windstopper on the torso area (not back) and fronts of the sleeves (again, not back). Two weights for the non-windstopper bit are available. Worth checking out and priced less than Assos or Castelli.
