Best method to ship a bikeGripped

Okay, I sold a bike through the classifieds. What is the best method for shipping? I'm getting a bike box plus packing goodies from the LBS. What is the least expensive shipping option?

Thanks

I would go Fedex ground. I found it cheaper than UPS and I think safer. Wrap things well and take the skewers off the wheels, also put the plastic drop-out stiffeners on that come with new bikes. If it's just the frame, try to pack it in the smallest box you can because if you go over the size/price point, you may jump like $10. You can check this out at the Fedex web site by playing with the box dimensions.

Be sure and buy insurance from Fed Ex in case there is any damage. They are cheaper than UPS. I ship all the time.

You can wrap the tubes in foam plumbing pipe insulation. You can get this cheap (a few bucks) as a hardware store. I've done it when transporting bikes. Just some extra insurance against scratches.
