I would like anyone's thoughts on the Colnago C-40 (w/B Stay) vs. the C-40HP (w/B stay)

I bought a 2003 C40 Bstay w/o HP stays. Yes, they still make them. I'm light at 60kg and just didn't like the look of the HP stays. Also ordered it with an older Art Decor, AD10 paint scheme, last seen ridden by Mapei in 1998 before they went to want my wife affectionately calls "fruit salad" scheme.

Prior to the C40 I spent most of my time on a 1999 Vortex. They're very different but the same in many respects. Ride quality on both is excellent but the C40 dampens things that the Vortex doesn't. For road geometry, I prefer the C40 as it's very stable and goes through turns like it's on rails. The Vortex is a tad more maneuverable or nervous, depending on your point of view. BB stiffness goes to the C40, but not so you'd notice. Finish and quality of materials. Both score well, albeit with different frame materials.

Now everything seems to go the way of the C40 but I rate the Vortex highly and as for crash survival, one thinks the Vortex although the C40 is incredibly strong.

That doesn't help you HP, non-HP question. If you race, go with the HP, if you don't or don't like the looks don't.
