I'm thinking of organizing an "Anti-Seagull century" ride.KG 361

It would have 2 2+ mile climbs, 1st @ about 6-8% and 2nd closer to 3 miles but more like 5-6%. It would be free =), somewhere around 75-80 miles on Oct 19th. Anyone interested? Leaves should be at their peak and trust me, you would see PLENTY of trees (ride starts in Mechanicsburg, PA and would loop into Perry county and back).

I've been really busy lately and am looking for some time off. OTOH, if you had a decent group gathering for the ride you might be able to twist my arm.

Let me know if anything develops.
Oh Sure. Pick the same week as theJL

Savage Century I've been planning on. Hmmm. Ride with people I don't know, or ride with people I "know"? Hmmm.

He ponders.

The savage centure runs that day out of Newark Delaware.

Tough ride, great roads, and senery, $20. Why not meet there?

Let me know.

I'm already signed up for the Savage. I did it last year & it is tough.

Possibly. JL wants to do the Savage, too.KG 361

That's easier for me. Hmm. I didn't consider it because I thought that it was the following weekend and I work that one. Only thing is that it's Saturday and I hate to miss my daughter's soccer game.
I'll be missing my daughters soccer game too.JL

But she understands. I'm missing this week too when I go the Veloswap.

How about making a weekend of it?MB1

We have ridden part of the Savage Century route and would like to do the whole thing.

You could ride SS with Miss M if you like, I'll use gears.

Any ideas for Sunday? We could even do something on the Eastern Shore.
Hmmm. The wheels are turning.KG 361

I don't theink I'd do the savage on a SS. While it doesn't look that bad, I wouldn't want to do 100 miles of it SS. Could take the SS/fixie for a ride on Sunday. I'll have to check w/ THE Boss. (I'm making all I can of "but I didn't do the Seagull this year"!) Perhaps I could use the ride I had in mind for next years PA gathering-we could have 2 centuries, complete with cue sheets, just for you =)
I'm sure we could set something up for Sunday............Len J

Bill & Cindy are doing the Savage also.

The only issue is that I have a family wedding to go to on Sat afternoon at 3:00 in Philadelphia, so I won't be heading back to the shore until late evening.

I'll check with Bill & maybe you could go to dinner with them on Sat night, and we could plan on meeting Early Sun Morning.

Let me think about logistics & housing.

I'll e-mail you Mark.

Great idea.

Len

PS. Miss M may be able to do the Savage single speed, I;ll be lucky to be able to do it geared. LOL
PS. All are invited to the Sun Ride...........Len J

All this talk of Seagulls, Savages, and Suns has my head spinning. I have been earning some "Ride Coupons" over the last few weeks. I may be able to cash them in with The Boss and make a weekend of it. I know I'm free the 19th. I'd have to check again regarding Sat.

You guys just keep blending ideas. KG, I'll talk to you this weekend about it.

I have the route to offer. 109mi, ~13,000' climbing (TopoUSA came up with 14,800') out of Frederick, MD to Blue Ridge Summit, PA and back. Stops every 25-30mi, lunch stop at 60mi. Several short options, quiet country roads, wooded; route goes through 4 National/State/Municipal parks. Nothing really steep except maybe one 16%avg .8mi climb at 102mi, and a few grades in mid teens on otherwise 5-10% climbs. THere're no flat sections, if it isn't up it is down. It cannot be more Anti-Seagull :)
Ok, let's try to meet at the Savage.KG 361

Don't know if I can swing a ride Sunday, but I should be able to do the Savage. We can arrange to meet at the start at a later date. Sound like a plan?
Sounds good to me...JL

Seems like Len J already paid for that anyway.

Ben, this may be closer to you than Mechanicsburg (not sure though) and would be a straight shot down 95 into Delaware to get there. Like Len posted before, here's the link:
