Anybody know anything about these frames? Looking into the carbon Diamante. I never see any for sale on e-bay or roadbike review classifieds.

I have a 10-year-old Basso Gap frame for my son, and it's lovely. Just a very well-made frame, in the right size (48). The Basso people respond well to e-mail, so you might give them a yell.

I don't think Basso makes Gaps any more, although gvhbikes.com has some NOS frames. They seem to have gone over to aluminum/carbon frames. There's some speculation that their frames are Far East-mfd, but I heard that welding (amount unspecified) is still done in Vicenza. Yellow Jersey (http://www.yellowjersey.org/basso3.html) used to sell Bassos. Judging from the volume of aluminum and al/carbon Basso frames that have been flogged at mail-order outlets (Performance, etc), I'm inclined to believe the Far East rumors.

I'm buying a new frame this winter and I'm trying to sort out what I wan't. It's tough with all the great frames out on the market. Basso just happens to be one I could get but know nothing about. Thanks for the input.

If you actually buy an Italian made Basso it is still a great bike. I think they may be outsourcing some in the Far East, so beware.
