Started Tuesday and ending Sunday. Last year I got the C40 fever and ended up buying one. This year, it's the Time VXRS.

Here's some detail on a Merlin Extralight.

Not yet in the States with the full carbon box and paint scheme. The downtube shaping's quite interesting in profile.

The appearance of the 2004 crank is quite different from the past two years. Kind of mablelized and different profile to the crank arms.

Interesting look with the partial CF top tube and back end.

I spent some time talking to Joe Ingram, CFO of IF, of Somerville via Fulham in the UK. This is number 2 or 3 of their Ti bikes with a CF wishbone. You've seen it here first!

The seatstays are pivoted at the dropout, like a Serrotta.

Interesting frame but not for me. Some of the shaping appears to be more decorative than functional.

... just when I'd about settled on a Khan... you show me this!!??!!

Back to square one!

Be the bike.
How's your Italian?boneman
Sep 29, 2003 12:46 PM
I snagged a Sintema/Kuota brochure that I can scan and email if you want. It's all in Italian but includes frame geometry specs. Let me know and leave an email address. No spam, promise.
Thanks for the offer...Akirasho

... but I've already downloaded their PDF files from their site http://www.kuota.it and have a US dealer lined up http://www.ital-tecno.com

It'd be my first CF frame... and a bit more unique than the run of the mill OCLV or CF TCR that are so... common round here.

Be the bike.

Well, I've not seen this one. Full CF, sloping tube model. Fairly shaped in the seat post area and quite nicely finished.

You can see the radical, for CF, shaping.

Not yet available in the States and supposedly one of the lightest CF frames around. Top tube shaping was a bit lumpy and the finish was a bit disappointing.

Very nicely done and finished CF frame.

Well, his reign is almost over. Interesting thing was the the Mavic wheels were for tubs and the tires were definitly tubs but had the tread and name of Turbo on the side! I didn't know they made tubs.

I'll take a Cervelo, a Time, and perhaps a Roubaix! No, make that a DeRosa... sigh.

That Cipo bike is hot too, too bad they'll probably overcharge for it like they did for his world championship stripes bike. It's just a paint job for pete's sakes!

Hey Boneman, seems like you got a little carbon fiber fetish... most of the pics are of CF. Is it the 'big' thing this year, or is it just what you posted?

Thanks for the pics!

Well, definitely fantasy and fetish. Most of the new and interesting bikes in the last year or so have been CF or with CF bits attached. The guy from Independent Fabrication and I were talking about the point of CF seat stays on the Ti Crown Jewel but hey, what the customer wants, the customer gets.

I figured everyone had seen most of the steel and Al bikes already. I go to the bike show to see the latest and greatest and this year was heavy on CF.

Everyone knows that Campag are coming out with the Hyperion in a clincher version. This Navigator wheelset is distributed by Terry Dolan up North, costs about £650 and available in the next couple of months. Appear to be well made. No idea what the specs are but probably find out later.

Dura Ace Brake from 10 spd gruppoboneman
Sep 27, 2003 1:55 PM
These are really nice. Machining and look are very industrial. I also gave the 10 spd STI's a trial and their action is very nice. Gear changes are more of a click, in between the 8spd- definite click and 9spd- no click. Somewhat like a soft Record 10 change. For those with small hands, the action from the drops for both up and down shift, as well as braking is much better than other previous STI versions. I still can't decide about the look of the cranks.

Thanks for the pic's; great photos. My new bike Jones just got a big bucket of fuel thrown on the fire when I looked at your photos!!! It's a good thing I can't run down to the LBS right now!

Some brochures and the lot. Last year I managed to snag a complete Colnago catalog on the last day. This year, the distributor was nowhere to be seen.
