Looking for group rides in Asheville NCFlat Lander
Sep 25, 2003 3:42 PM
I'm moving to Asheville in Late October, and as I don't know anyone or any good roads, I'm looking to meet up with some groups. The groups that I ride with here in FL are around 18 to 22mph and I'm not sure of what that will translate into with elevation.

You're moving to cycling mecca (well, for the southeast anyway). Check out the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club (http://www.blueridgebicycleclub.org/). When you first roll into town, the parkway is the best place to start. The ride from Asheville to Craggy Gardens and beyond is highly recommended. Eighteen mile climb, easy grade, amazing scenery. And tunnels, so bring a light.

Do you also mountain bike? The Asheville/Pisgah/Dupont area is as good as it gets anywhere.
And chec this out...gf99
