I think i been scammed by carbonracer@rcn.com. I sent him a money order for 400 bucks for a pair of Lew wheels, his classifed ad was placed on this site, as a matter of fact he has a few of them, emailed him twice, ask if he received the money order or not, and he never got back to me. Is there a way i can cancel the money order or something... heres his name

Conclusion (for a seller)filtersweep

After reading your post toward the bottom, it shows how important it is for the SELLER to communicate with the buyer for a major purchase.

I sold a bike through ebay and gave a detail by detail update, including scanning the work order at the LBS for packing and shipping the box (since it just sat on a hook over the weekend). Add the fact that the deal is mildly "too good to be true" and paranoia sets in. I just purchased a pair of Rolf Prima Vigors... with a cassette... and with tires for only $300 of ebay- HALF of what any other Vigor wheelset was selling for- and at a buy-it-now price. I was quite nervous about the deal, but the arrived exactly as advertised. I kept wondering what the catch was... there simply was none.
A money order is like cash. You can't stop it. Your best betbill

probably is to call the police in Waban Mass, see if they want to do anything. I suppose it also is an interstate matter (guessing that part), so that the FBI might (big might -- they seem to be more involved with chasing terrorists and such) be interested.
Hmmm... give him a call....filtersweep

Looks like the ad was posted a week ago (9-16)- according to my search- which means mail time, time to get to the bank, time to deposit the money, time for it to clear, all while maybe on vacation or maybe he doesn't "live online" ?

I'd give it more time...

Does he live on 30 Hereford Rd?

You might want to call him at 617-527-1447

nope he lives on 40 Ferncroft Rd. Is that his number? Do you this guy? I sent him a money order, which is pretty much like cash, so that doesnt need to be cleared or anything like that....

If you haven't been following all the Nigerian scams, money orders are NOT just like cash- they are easily forged, and commonly forged, and people THINK they are like cash, but if you deposit a forged MO, the bank can pull the money back out of your account.
I google searched the phone number...russw19

And it comes back with the same name and address you said you have for him, so I think you might still be OK. Give it a day or 3 and see what happens. And if you get your wheels, I think you should publicly clear this guy's name. If not, publicly declare this a scam. But if it's on the up and up, you really should make a point to post that follow-up.... Karma and all that.

Maybe you should try calling him if you have the number...

i will def. clear his name up if he is legit, the only reason i posted was because someone else was acting the same exact question (he sent him a money order for dura ace crankset) and he still hasnt receive anything yet, so i was getting alittle concern. But if he is legit i will def. clear his name up, I'll keep you all updated on whats going on...and i really appreciate the help...

Give it a few days then seek legal help if he does not reply. I have had great success with ebay and RBR class. I hope it works out for you
I think there is a scam on ebay right now. I bid on a Trek TT bike and lost the auction. He sent me a notice of second chance. When I emailed him to ask how many miles were on the bike and if he could send me another pic so I know he has one and didnt just scan one from the net he replied ""go screw yourself"" LOL. I was very polite in my email and just said I wanted some reassurance since there has been alot of fraud on ebay. Now he has put the auction up again with no reserve. Someone is going to get ripped off especially since he only wanted $1500 for a bike thats worth 2500-2800
I wanted to buy his carbon frame as well...PeterRider

me: "do you still have that frame"
him: "yeah" (that was it)

And then he didn't reply to my next message.

email me off line at commonguy001 at yahoo dot com

I have his mothers home phone number if you need it. I had contacted him via phone about these wheels mid last week and he was leaving for college last Thursday. He was going to be back on line by mid weekend but that may not have happened.

so I doubt it was a scam. Houses on that street run for $1M...
Yes. You can stop payment on a bank MO but not a USPS MO. nmOwenMeany

I think there is a fraud charge they can bring against him for using U.S mail to commit it.

Well, with the help of some of the members on this board, which i would like to thank very much, it looks like we solve the puzzle. The reason why he is not responding to the numerous emails from a few members on this board concerning the classified ads and money orders being sent, is because he is out of town. And the products should be sent out very soon, I would like to thank everyone on this board in helping resolve this matter. And i will keep everyone posted when i do receive the item. Once again i would to thank everyone here for helping out...will keep everyone updated...

Gixxer, I have been falsely accused of sending viruses and slandering people on internet sports forums before.

Maybe you are new or something to the internet forum world, but you have acted like a jackass and a bastard for castigating an innocent man.

I do appreciate your post informing us, but many may not read it. You need to post an apology to this poor man at the top.

Formerly injured man,

Spankdoggie a.k.a formerly intelligent man,

Apparently you are under the impression someone cares about your previous "forum" experiences. If you are corralating your childish experiences to this mans possible fraud case you need to get your head out of your a$$.
You're also evidently not that bright . If you would have taken 34 seconds out of your life you would have read in SEVERAL threads that Gixxerick was stating "possible" fraud , and that he would happily clear this persons name once the problem was resolved.
You would have ALSO realized that he STILL doesnt have his item and is still out 400$ until this seller decides its convenient for him to respond or ship.

So spare me and others your assinine comments and refrain from posting on subjects you know nothing about.

Gixxer- keep on top of this guy until he ships item. I dont care if hes home or in the bahamas he has your money.

Don't act like the every other single women on this board that believes the hype that they are equal to a man. Women are not equal to a man. Accept it, and you will find a man. I wish you well, but I digress...

The young bastard above posted an email address along with his supposed "possible" fraud... Any jackass would accept his post if he did not post a contact email...

Chill out woman, because your freaking hormones posted that thread above, not you. When you chill out, then respond...

P.S. RBR is starting to become a freaking hen party. I won't allow it.

Bad move on the Sellers partKristin
Sep 25, 2003 7:16 AM
With all the scamming going on, legit sellers should understand that regular and consistent communication is the key to keeping their customers calm and happy. If he has several transactions going and knew he was going to be away from the keyboard for a while, he should have sent out an announcement to everyone stating when he was going, how long he would be gone and when he would be back. Especially if the trip means he'd delay shipping products that had already been purchased. He may be legit, but not very professional or courteous.
Yeah, but...spankdoggie

There are many young jackasses roaming about on ebay...

Realize most people have a LIFE, and they can't revolve around a miserable set of bike wheels, especially when they are not making money on them or doing it for a living.

Poeple get out of town, have family emergencies, work deadlines (Heck, I worked 200 hours in the past 2 weeks, even my own mom can't find me.), have to find a wheel box, etc. In my experience, trades take more than one week most of the time. If you are so easily startled, go to bike shop and cough up that extra $600.

he may be a jerk (doesnt sound like it to me), but if you work 200 hrs in the past 2 weeks, why dont you stop looking at this forum and do some work so you can go home. $400 is $400. when i pay for something, i want it- or i want to know what is going on. when someone buys something from me-they know whats up. heres a thought... if you send someone money and they dont send merchandise- ITS A CRIME. go get some sleep and when you wake up you'll realize you were nuts for thinking this guy was wrong for posting about possibly getting hosed. also, dont be a jerk- dont worry your mother.
