Mavic XP21 w 105 hub or Shimano R540 wheelsetEileen

I will be participating in an Ironman event in October. I have trained with Mavic XP21's ( 32 spoke ) and have used them for 4 years. One of my friends has offered to lend me their Shimano R540 wheelset for the race.
2 Questions:

1 - Will I notice a difference in speed between the Mavicxp21 with 105 hub, versus Shimano R540's - note: I am planning to average around 15 mph , in semi hilly terrain Great Floridian Triathlon. Would I tire less ? Go faster ?

2 - Will it be a big adjustment ? Approximately how many miles should I put on them prior to race day , I am not worried about flats but since I am slow I try to be very aggressive on downhills and do not want to be faced with any unfortunate haps ! . due to me not being used to the wheels the race day. There is a possibility of slight wind on race day too.

insights will be appreciated greatly !

You might find a difference, because its considered an aero wheelset, the weight is probably about the same, so going uphill you might not feel any advantage, but try the 540's to see if you feel any difference while on flats, as well as in winds that you will be riding in. see which wheelset you're more comfortable in. good luck in the race!
