|auction was for new '03 team scalpel mtn bike $ 1400 buy now price. this bike new is normally about $ 2600 at least!
guy states in auction to email him before you enter a bid or buy now, which i do this morning to ask what size it is and that i may bid/buy.
I rec'd the following email back............
>>>>>>>>> email starts
The Cannondale Scalpel Team Replica Bike is brand new in factory sealed box with all the accessories and warranty. I have 4 for sale (size S,M,L and size XL), so I'm ready to sell you one of them right now for $1400 (shipping included).
As a shipping carrier I will use UPS express services because I have worked with them in the past and they were very fast and secure. Please send me your shipping address.
About the payment, I had some bad experience with my PayPal account. You can see by yourself visiting www.paypalsucks.com. I don't want to use this service until I get all my money from them. To make it prompt and safe I would rather you sent me the money via Western Union because this is the fastest way to send money to the USA (You can make it over the phone by calling 1-800-CALL-CASH or if you are a first time user then you must go in person to a Western Union agent from where you can send the payment on my name and address).
Amount to send: $1400
I will pay the Western Union transfer fee. Please subtract the transfer fee from the amount and send me the rest of it.
After you make the payment through Western Union they will provide you the MTCN that means money transfer control number. E-mail me the MTCN and the sender's full name and address that you filled in on the transfer request.
As soon as I receive from you the transfer details I will check the payment and immediately contact UPS carrier to ship the package to you.
Then I will e-mail you the tracking number from UPS so you can track the shipment all the way to your home.
Hoping that sounds ok for you I am already looking forward for future deals.

|You're screwed. NO WESTERN UNION OVERSEAS! It's been posted on the classifieds page for months!
It doesn't sound like you completed the transaction though, so what's the trouble?

|I would base my decision on his previous feedback. If he has neg, or very few transactions then I would start looking for another deal.|

|if you are telling us you sent him the money than you did get screwed. That auction had ALL the classic signs of a scam. I hope I'm misreading your post and you didn't send him anything. If you did I feel for you.|

|Of course it was a scam... ask yourself how he even came into all these factory-sealed boxes of bikes in every size for half of retail...
I'll bet you anything he'd still "sell you the bike" at the buy it now price, even though the ad has been removed. I'll bet if you wanted eight of them, he'd track them all down for you...

|i guess my wording was not that clear, but no way would i have sent any money. This guy's auction had all the criteria for a scam, and I was mostly being scarstic i think, since it was such an apparent scam.
