On the front page of the latest issue of Bicycle Retailer and industry news is an article intitled "E-Bay Is Hot: Thieves make the site sizzle". We all know there are many stolen items on ebay that is not new but I never thought of this. Three large retailers in Southern California, Helen's in Santa Monica, Nitro(triathlon Shop) in San Diego and Jax's in Belmont Shores (long Beach) all have discovered thousands of doallars worth of there inventory for sale on ebay, all stolen by store employees doing inside jobs. Helen's figures there employee stole between 30-40,000 worth of merchandise he was a "nice guy trusted employee" at nitro a landlord discovered thousands of dollars worth of frames merchandsise still in packaging in an employees garage after an upstairs apartment got a water leak and the water leaked down into the garage same story with jaxs trek complete bikes stolen and ended up on ebay.
All the stores have said they have completley changed the way they check and keep track of inventory, Nitro owners said he spent thousands on survalliance cameras thru out the store. This is just a quick summary of a 2 page article the article was really mind blowing.
Guess bottom line is you may never know where the merchandise is coming from off ebay.
Just wanted to share this.

Oh, man!

Where's Dora when you need her?

I've heard of similar scams with other businesses. Distributors in particular have to keep close control over any readily marketable inventory that passes through their warehouses - electronics, clothes, office supplies, furniture, you name it. If it can be sold with minimal risk of tracing via SN you'd better keep an eye on it.
Oh man...I have a house full of Dora stuff...biknben
