|Has anyone had any actual experience with these things? Do they work when a dog is closing on a moving bike?|

|Generally they merely work OK on a not-to-determined animal, but affect all dogs a little differently. Save your dough for Hickory/CF stick or a Scandium-framed S&W .38.|

|It works remarkably well on some dogs - the first time I had to use it I was amazed at how fast that dog disappeared. It's worked well a few other times too, but any number of dogs just give you a sort of quizical look and go on doing what they were doing, including ingesting your leg. My dog just looks at it a little bit funny, but doesn't make any attempt to get away from it.
|What about pocket-sized airhorns....or guns???||funknuggets|

|There are several dogs on our normal routes that come out pretty much on cue... others more stealthy. I know they make small airhorns... would those work if you were prepared? Plus, since Missouri has recently passed a concealed carry law... would it be illegal to shoot the said canine offender in self defense?
We were riding in and out of fog and out came a dog on saturday, nearly causing a major wreck for 21 serious riders on even more serious bikes. So...if we issued a warning to the owner and the dog continued to attack us couldn't we just shoot it?
We are on public property, and they came into said property.... could one shoot the dog, then just deal with the legal stuff later... such as his not controlling the dog???
Not that I would, just wondering what if...

|I tried using my plastic frame pump on a dog and it just fell apart. Cheap Plastic piece of #@%#.
Oh, for the good old days when old Fido would learn a real lesson when a solid metal frame pump came across the side of the head. Cures that bicycle chasing habit real quick.
Really, does anyone make a nice solid frame pump that can also be used as a dog club anymore?
