|If so, we should plan a little gathering Saturday or somewhere to meet at the ride start. I'll be there Friday, sometime early in the afternoon and plan on a short ride Saturday morning, 1 to 1.5 hours.

Wanted to join you when you rode in July, but couldn't. If you can provide some definite dates and times by the end of October, I'd like to come up from Jacksonville. I need a couple of weeks in advance to make travel arrangements, if possible. I've got a double kit to put on the Litespeed, but I'll keep the triple on if we do the ride. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if the ride is a go. Thanks.

|I've been wondering what it would do to a person to ride the loop we did this summer, only in the opposite direction, and throwing in Brasstown right there at the end. Sound like fun? Either direction will be painful. I like starting from Vogel better than the other side.

|I'll get back to you on the numbers. I can say there are no major climbs riding from Brasstown to Vogel, BUT, after the backwards loop, there are a number of small hills that will be tough. Remember that litle bump to get to the Vogel SP entrance? I'll post this evening.

|12x23, where have you been?||Mike P|

|I haven't seen much of you in the RBR world lately. We should try to meet up again; seems like we were in the same pack for a good part of 3 State 3 Mtn.
If the start is anything like last year, do not make the mistake of starting from the parking lot. It had to be 5 to 10 minutes from the start of the clock until we started rolling. I am going to try to be out on the road somewhere amoung the first few hundred. I figure if I can cut 5 minutes without having to do anything it will help me hit my 5:45 - 6 hour goal.

|Yep, that was me at 3s/3m. Best I recall we were trading our best price sources for tires just before entering the rotating paceline from Hades. (I was the dude on the 5900 with his pupils stuck to the inside of his Oakleys and sucking air like a goldfish).
I always try to wiggle in up near the front. It's a bit tricky starting elbow-to-elbow on that incline and immediately turning right onto the roadway, but I've never had a problem or been held up there.
I hope to get in at sub 6 hours, too, as do three other guys from our area. I'll see you there.
|yup, but not getting to Dahlonega till Sun. am....||_rt_|

|unfortunately this year's 6-gap falls on the same weekend as the Jewish New Year so i am trying to juggle religion and passion: religion on saturday & passion on sunday. i'm assuming God will forgive me for transgression of not spending sunday in synagogue.
rt <----glad that Jews have no concept of h#ll!

|I know everyone prays at least twice during the 6-gap ride, Hogpen and Wolfpen, so it is a religous experience.
|lol! i'm pretty sure i prayed more than that last year...||_rt_|
Sep 22, 2003 12:08 PM
|on Hogpen: "Oh God, please don't let me fall over. i know i'm barely sustaining 1.2 mph, but pleeeeeease don't let me tip over"
between Hogpen & Wolfpen: "Oh God, please just make this end. i just want to die. pleeeeeeese just let me die."
on Wolfpen: "Oh God....."
on the Col de Walmart: "Oh......"
at the finish: "Thank God! and sing praises to His name!!"

|I will be doing this one for the first time. In Hotlanta on business for a while, going up to Dalhonega early Sunday AM. Sounds like fun (in a very sick sort of way!) Is there any good place to meet up?|
|First time? You better like hills!||Mike P|
Sep 23, 2003 5:30 AM
|I'm not sure if there is a good place to meet. If the start is like last year it is one giant mob; they estimate over 800 riders started. I am going to try to be on the main road near the entrance to the campus, somewhere in the front 100 or so riders.
I'll be riding a blue Merckx, Voler shorts, blue and white Park Tools Jersey, and a white helmet.
I hope you enjoy the ride, it's my second favorite in the SE.
