| Cold Weather Clothing | JetSpeed Sep 21, 2003 4:28 PM | | Can someone suggest to me a GOOD cold weather jacket/windbreaker? I hate to just blindly order
on-line. Also, a good website to find one?
Thanks!! |
| for training, commuting, or what? | Spoiler Sep 21, 2003 5:52 PM | | Are you looking fore a jacket you can wear just for riding?
The this page
http://www.bicyclinghub.com/winsal.html
has some of the nicest windproof jackets available. I bought a team jacket similar to the Spanish National jacket and it's great. The problem is that it's a little flashy to wear off the bike. |
| Assos Gator Jacket...better than good.. | 2melow Sep 21, 2003 5:56 PM | | http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/viewfullimage_v2.cfm?CGRFNBR=407&File=/images/products/full/assxych02.jpg&Description=ASSOS%20Gator%20Jacket |
| I have one too...it's a serious piece of equipment. | Gregory Taylor Sep 21, 2003 6:05 PM | | It was given to me as a gift, and it really a beautiful garment. I have the black one - hides dirt, grease, etc. better. It is also the warmest bike jacket out there, good for temps in the teens. It is a LOT of money, but then it is a LOT of jacket. |
| I use a PI Barrier jacket... | biknben Sep 22, 2003 5:15 AM | | I used it for commuting through a bad winter last year. For me it was too warm when above freezing. I rode in the single digits with it and at least that part of my body was warm.
The retail for around $150 but can had for $100 or maybe less. |
| Ditto on the Assos stuff. | eyebob Sep 22, 2003 7:32 AM | | Legendary warmth that's worth the price. I personally layer up a lot so I get away with lighter weight stuff, but every time i go out and It's cold, I never regret this jacket.

| re: Cold Weather Clothing | MShaw Sep 22, 2003 9:47 AM | | How cold do you wanna go? For most of my riding I found a vest is perfect. Not hot enough that I start sweating (and get cold) but blocks the wind from your torso to keep you warm.
I have several different weights of arm warmers for different temp ranges. I have lycra, mid-weight fleeced, and heavier-weight fleeced for the really cold days.
