| Is the Performance Forte pro stem any good? | BAi9302010 Sep 20, 2003 1:06 PM | | It's on sale for 35 bucks and at 135 grams it weighs less than most stems that cost $100 more. Granted it is a Performance Generic stem and it doesn't have a name brand on it (but it does look a lot like the Deda newton and Ritchey WCS). anyone have any experience with this stem? |
| my bad it's $25 not 35, even better!! (nm) | BAi9302010 Sep 20, 2003 1:07 PM | | |
| built up an MTB for a friend with one | weiwentg Sep 20, 2003 3:24 PM | | no complaints, I doubt it's 135g (didn't weigh, definitely not too heavy), but he hasn't had the bike long. I MIGHT have heard a rumor on MTBR that they're made in the same factory as the Ritchey stems, and I wouldn't be surprised. the finish looks cheap, but I would not be surprised if it was a ritchey comp, or even pro, just rebadged. |
| I have one or two that I have used to try out different lengths | bill Sep 21, 2003 4:40 PM | | before plunking down the change on a chi-chier stem. They are not as stiff as better stems, but they work. |
