Warranty on a Mavic Cosmos wheelsetKen of Fresno

I'm strongly considering purchasing a Mavic Cosmos Wheelset. I see Totalcycling.com has them for $218, but I wonder if the warranty would be valid on items purchased overseas. Anyone have experience with this? I'm hoping I will never need to use the warranty.

Anyone know of an equally good price stateside? I know shipping from the UK would probalby bump up the price significantly, but I can't see shelling out the $350 my local shop wants for them.

Thanks,
Ken
worth the risk,,,C-40

For someting that costs so little, I wouldn't worry about it. I've bought Record groupos and a C-40 frame from total cycling with success. It's well worth the risk for such large savings. Be sure to stock up on tires when you order. Contis are about half the typical U.S. price.

Although the warranty may still be valid on the wheels, the warranty service (at least on campy parts) must be handled by an authorized dealer. Try taking your broken wheels to a local shop and ask them to send them in for repair. They'll tell you to take a hike.

you can get a set on ebay, brand new, for $250-260. With shipping from the UK, it comes out to be about the same amount of $$. Just my 2 cents...

This won't answewr your question, but I've just put about 3,000 kms on my Cosmos this year and they have been teriffic. I'm 200 pounds and haven't had a wobble yet, hit plenty of holes etc.
