Antelope Island ride picsSCOOTERINSLC

Yesterday I got sick of the traffic and decided to go out to Antelope Island and ride the causway out to the island, then out to the Feilding Garr Ranch which is located on the south end of the island.
For those not familiar, (which I'm sure is most of you), Antelope Island sits out in the middle of the Great Salt Lake, linked to land by a 7 mile paved causway. Once out there, there is only a couple of riding options. I chose the 11 mile ride out to the ranch. It ended up about a 35 mile round trip ride, but seemed like less because it is very flat and not a trace of wind. Warm and sunny from start to finish

As you can see, the drought has really affected the level of the lake. This is looking east, back towards civilization.

Last shot. I didn't take the camera out often enough. Too busy enjoying the ride. Have a good weekend all.

Here are a bunch more that I've taken out on the island this year. Some are mountain biking, some are road stuff and one of a road race that is held out there in the middle of may. Thanx for looking.

I gotta get me one of those. Well, I need to find that type of scenery to ride through. Kind of hard in North Texas :-)

Hey innergel. I use a Fuji s602 zoom. It is rather large for a digital, but it is very "SLR like" in regards to its size and manual controls. It is only a 3MP with interpolation to 6MP, which actually yeilds about a 4MP image. I am actually selling it as Fuji has release the 7000 which appears to be basically the same camera with 6MP native resolution with interpolation to 12MP! Behold the macro!

I have a Fuji Medium Format Rangefinder camera from the early 1990's. Best camera I own. It kills my Nikon. It surpasses my Rolleiflex. Blow-ups from the thing even give my 4X5 a run for its money. Fuji lenses are vastly under-rated in the photographic world. Happy shooting! Of course, it doesn't hurt that you have a good eye and a fine landscape to cover.

Great pics! Thanks!

I'll be in the SLC area mid-late October !

Could you give me [or direct me to] some more detail on road rides in this area? Weather, wind, access, suggested rides, etc???

Any other not-to-be-missed road rides anywhere in Utah?

Thanks for your help!

Duo
